Lenzing’s long-time fabric mill partner, Hong Kong-based Primotex Textiles Holdings Limited (Primotex), introduced EcoLab, a new fabric collection that aims to propel the industry towards a more circular future with the adoption of sustainable alternative materials, recycled materials and responsible practices without compromising functional benefits.
Certified as biodegradable and composable[1], TENCEL™ and LENZING™ ECOVERO™ branded fibers are derived from wood carefully sourced from controlled or certified origins meeting FSC® and PEFC standards[2]. Furthermore, TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers, TENCEL™ Modal fibers and LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers are produced with at least 50% less carbon emissions and water consumption compared to generic lyocell, modal and viscose fibers[3].
Coupled with the functional benefits of breathability and softness, the versatile fibers are key blending materials for the new collection, which is centered around the development of fabrics using a considerable amount of sustainable raw materials.
The EcoLab fabric collection features dozens of fabric blends that incorporate TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers, TENCEL™ Modal fibers and LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers with other natural or recycled materials, including wool, linen, cotton, recycled nylon, recycled polyester, as well as fibers made from branded recycled PET bottles and 100% textile waste (COOLMAX® EcoMade).
“We are glad to support our partners’ mission to further drive the industry towards a more responsible practice. By incorporating more sustainable materials and recycled materials in fabrics, we are not only offering brands and consumers with more responsible alternatives but also fostering a systematic change in the textile value chain,” said Alan Hung, Senior Business Development Manager in Apparel at Lenzing.
