TENCEL™ brand delivers “True Carbon Zero” webinar in China to drive industry commitment to sustainability

On January 22, 2021, Lenzing held the “True Carbon Zero” webinar in China. An official introduction for Chinese consumers to carbon-zero TENCEL™ branded fibers, the webinar provided a platform for supply chain partners to exchange ideas in a meeting of minds, with the aim of decarbonizing the fashion and textile industries. More than three-hundred participants were in attendance, eager to hear about the new carbon-zero solutions provided by the TENCEL™ brand, which takes our fiber collection to new levels of sustainability.

Mr. Kehua Hu, deputy director from the China Textile Association Sustainability Department opened the webinar, delivering a presentation on market opportunity for carbon neutral products in the industry. Mr. Hu introduced the latest government decarbonization policy, discussing how it is a key developing trend, in a bid to engage partners to make their own climate commitments.

The TENCEL™ brand is fully committed to driving sustainability and combatting climate change; the introduction of our carbon-zero fibers is testament to this. By engaging industry partners in a bid to reduce their overall carbon emissions, we are a step closer to achieving carbon-zero. Sandy Liu, Lenzing’s North Asia Sustainability Manager, introduced the webinar participants to carbon-zero TENCEL™ branded lyocell and modal fibers. Officially launched in 2019, the fibers are certified CarbonNeutral® products, using renewable energy during production, helping to meet our commitment to becoming carbon-zero by 2050. Via a “reduce-engage-offset” approach, we can help reduce a product’s carbon footprint, engage industry partners, and offset unavoidable emissions to drive decarbonization. The new carbon-zero TENCEL™ fibers contribute to lower carbon emissions and energy consumption across the supply chain, and meet a key milestone in promoting the transparency of raw materials used in textile products.

The webinar was well received and elicited some interesting questions from supply chain partners and brands who were inspired by the content. By raising awareness around how to reduce carbon emissions by embracing sustainable materials, the TENCEL™ brand is delighted once again, to engage the industry in important conversations like this, as we continue our journey together towards “True Carbon Zero”.
