João Maraschin’s new collection featuring Canatiba Textil fabrics made of TENCEL™ fibers debuts at Copenhagen Fashion Week

Every fashion collection is born from a spark of inspiration, often ignited by the thrill of a journey. This was exactly how London-based Brazilian designer João Maraschin created his latest collection "Road Trip". This eco-conscious collection, featuring fabrics from Canatiba Textil made of TENCEL™ branded lyocell fibers, emphasizes both originality and comfort, which is inspired by memories and stories from photographs captured during Maraschin’s cross-country road trips.

The capsule collection, comprising 15 pieces of shirts, jackets, trousers, dresses and skirts, is crafted from fabrics from Canatiba Textil made of TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers which are derived from controlled or certified wood sources[1], offering a lower environmental impact by reducing carbon emissions and water consumption by at least 50% compared to generic lyocell[2]. The collection reflects the brand's commitment to preserving traditional artisanal techniques while weaving them in modern designs. Each piece has been thoughtfully designed to reinvent familiar archetypes, underscoring the brand's innovative spirit.

"Co-creation stimulates and strengthens meaningful social and cultural intersections, serving as a vital tool for the collective success of various industry sectors. As a young entrepreneur, I prioritize cultivating respectful relationships throughout the entire supply chain and discovering solutions that promote long-lasting partnerships between the communities and companies," says the designer.

TENCEL™ has been driving highly responsible practices through strategic partnerships with spinning mills, fabric manufacturers and brands that prioritize the environment. Its fibers are naturally soft and smooth to the touch with high color fastness, in addition to being certified as biodegradable and compostable[3].

“Sustainability is a journey, and every step we take matters,” said Juliana Jabour, Business Development Manager South America at the Lenzing Group, “We are dedicated to ensuring every decision - from choice of materials to production process - contributes to minimizing our environmental impact. By offering innovative and eco-conscious premium products and services, we add value to the textile industry. Our brand represents textiles with comfort, quality and low environmental impact.”

"For Canatiba, sustainability is a part of the story. For more than half a century, we have been guided by industry practices that prioritize environmental preservation and social responsibility,” said Ivna Barreto, marketing manager at Canatiba Textil, “The partnership with João Maraschin and TENCEL™ further reinforces our core values, strengthening our role as an industry leader that champions end-to-end sustainability.”

João Maraschin's "Road Trip" collection, in partnership with TENCEL™ and Canatiba Textil, debuted at Copenhagen Fashion Week 2024 in early August. Following this, the collection will be premiered in Brazil at the 58th edition of São Paulo Fashion Week in October.
